“Donald Trump took an important step Wednesday in his quest to convince conservatives that, if elected president, he will deliver on the issues they care about,” Fox News reports, sharing details of the list of 11 possible Supreme Court picks released this week by the Trump campaign. 

Some conservatives are giving the potential picks rave reviews, while Investor’s Business Daily says the list simply shows Trumps political skills – not his true principles. 

What do you think about this, and the other defining issues of the 2016 campaign such as the economy and national security? 

If Trump wins the White House, will he feel extra pressure to nominate a trusted conservative to the Supreme Court?  Do you trust Trump to actually support conservative economic policies if he wins in November? This week has brought good news for Trump, as new polling gives him a lead over Hillary Clinton. Byron York of the Washington Examiner gives his thoughts on how Trump’s lead changes the race.

Trump is also getting new support from GOP big donors who previously fought him tooth-and-nail – and his dominance of the media also poses a threat to the Clinton campaign.

Hillary, meanwhile, is confident that the Democratic nomination is hers – and she is refusing to debate Bernie Sanders, as she had promised. But her support within the Democratic Party is far from enthusiastic. 

It’s all part of what John Podhoretz describes as a “painfully stupid campaign” by Team Clinton.

Here in New York, the de Blasio spectacle continues, as the Mayor goes into Nixon mode with a massive cover-up.

Now that the top spots seem to be locked up, there’s a lot of talk and even some bets on who Trump and Clinton might choose as their running mates. 

Of the people who have been mentioned so far, who do you think Trump will choose as his Vice-President? And what about Clinton – who do you think will be her running mate? And does it matter – do you think the vice-presidential choice can make or break a presidential candidate’s chances of winning?

In the battle of the campaign hashtags, some conservatives are starting to believe that #NeverHillary trumps #NeverTrump. 

But in theory, there are other choices. 

One professor who has correctly predicted every presidential race since 1984 has no idea what to make of this year’s campaign.

Hapless, hopeless Hillary is facing new questions about her Benghazi failures, and is in the middle of a host of new scandals – from her dangerous use of a private, non-secure Blackberry device to the Clinton Foundation’s wheeling-and-dealing.

Of course, don’t look for Hillary’s wrongdoings to be “trending topics” on Facebook. 

This week the courts finally got one right on Obamacare – but D.C. regulators and the White House are joining forces to do as much damage as they can before Obama leaves office.

It’s Friday the 13th, so we’ll end on some craziness – the Obama Administration is determined to force schools to abolish boys and girls bathrooms.

The Washington Free Beacon puts it bluntly: Ben Rhodes is a liar. You might not recognize the name, but you know the dangerous Iran policy he pushed through. Now this top Obama Administration official (who was at one time officially a fiction writer) is bragging about how he played the media and the public for chumps to sell the President’s Iran deal. 

What word do you believe best describes the Obama Administration? Of all the issues tackled by President Obama, which one do you think he and his aides have lied about the most? Do you think that either Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton will be more truthful than President Obama?

Trump vs. Clinton – will this election rest on who voters hate the least? Investor’s Business Daily thinks so. 

But the Post thinks Trump’s challenge is far easier than Clinton’s – and as the Washington Free Beacon notes, Hillary is still fighting a two-front war against both Trump and the persistent Bernie Sanders.

And it’s worth noting that a strong majority of Americans share Trump’s “America First” foreign policy philosophy. 

The Bush Family and Mitt Romney have announced that they will not be supporting Trump or attending the Republican National Convention. House Speaker Paul Ryan has stated that he’s not ready to support Trump, but a meeting between the two seems to be in the offing. 

Meanwhile former Trump adversaries Rick Perry and Bobby Jindal have come out for Trump, and overall the GOP is showing more signs of unifying behind his campaign.

Speaking of Hillary – her email scandal continues to deepen. The State Department continues to do her bidding, and new hacking allegations prove in no uncertain terms exactly why Hillary’s server was so risky. It’s now clear that the investigation could extend beyond November 2016 – and it’s conceivable that a President Hillary Clinton could be barred from seeing classified documents. 

Here at home – another day, another scandal for New York Mayor Bill de Blasio. Is his corruption a possible lifeline for our state’s embattled Republican Party?

Former House Speaker John Boehner tore into Sen. Ted Cruz this week, calling him “Lucifer in the flesh.” Sen. Cruz took the attack as a compliment. 

The Democrats stood out as the party of criminals this week – coining a new politically-correct phrase for young lawbreakers (“young people involved in the justice system”), making it easier for those with criminal records to get jobs with the federal government (where they’ll fit right in, I’m sure), and concocting a scheme to manipulate criminal voting rights as a boost to Hillary Clinton’s campaign.

Will Mayor de Blasio soon be joining the ranks of Democratic criminals? 

In the most frightening example of the left’s disregard for the rule of law, we’ve now learned that under the Obama Administration, “federal immigration authorities last year released 19,723 criminal illegal aliens back onto U.S. streets who have been convicted of 64,197 crimes — including 208 homicides.”

Is it any wonder ISIS is using America’s open borders to infiltrate the country? 

As Obama brags about his economic brilliance, the economy continues to falter – and his failures are an albatross for the Clinton campaign.

Meanwhile Hillary’s foreign policy views are sparking anger throughout the world – and the State Department she led, in what is given as her main qualification to be President, is now the center of cover-up charges over Hillary’s email scandal. 

Donald Trump gave a foreign policy speech this week, and of course his opponents ripped and ridiculed his ideas – but his “America First” vision is winning praise, as well. 

Is this more evidence that GOP officials and members of Congress are making their peace with the idea of President Trump?

A high-ranking aide to Mayor Bill de Blasio was informed that a nonprofit healthcare provider wanted to lift all deed restrictions on a Manhattan property in May of 2014 — two years before the issue came to light in a scandal that is being scrutinized by four separate government entities.

Is there any agency in America that President Obama will not politicize?

The New York Post’s editorial takes a look at the Mayor’s newest spending spree which is 15% more than Team de Blasio’s last budget while inflation is at less than 1%,

De Blasio attempts to sound the reformer from the left side of his mouth; he attempts to defend his illegal campaign-finance practices from the right side. What comes out is hypocritical gobbledygook.

The NY Post wants to know if Mayor de Blasio is corrupt or incompetent.  So do the rest of citizens in New York City. 

Democrats no longer care that their soda tax hits the poor hardest

The NY Times has faulted French labor laws, however that has not stopped them from calling for similiar laws in the US.  They have now found that the French labor laws are too expensive and eliminated 70 position; the question becomes will the stop pushing the same job-killing ideals here?

Bob McManus states in his Op-Ed in today’s New York Post that Mayor de Blasio’s administration might be the dumbest in modern times.  The reality is, we hope it is only dumb — and not a calculated, determination to break the law because it has become the way politics is done in New York.  Only time will tell and only concerned New Yorkers will be able to make a difference.  However, when Columbia University does all it can to cover up their involvement in a scheme that brought down Shelly Silver, one has to wonder if it is possible to end the indifference that many in New York City seem to have when it comes to electing officials. 

More problems for de Blasio in today’s New York Post.    Obviously, the Mayor is rattled by all of accusations.  

The Mayor has also made poor choices regarding our NYPD — the everyday man and woman  who risk their lives to protect us — and the people who sit on the Civilian Complaint Review Board. 

Former Lt. Gov. Betsy McCaughey says that the poor economy is literally killing people. 

The New York State Lottery is earning billions — for now — almost $10 billion last year.  What will happen when the casino’s open?  And what will happen to the school revenue that will most likely fall off?  Taxpayers asked for this conundrum, due in part, to the wording NYS used to pass one of Gov. Cuomo’s pet projects.

Transgender issues have been in the news quite a bit this week, from debates over so-called “bathroom bills” to ESPN’s firing of former big league pitcher and baseball analysts Curt Schilling over his criticism of transgender activists. The Daily Signal points out that ESPN should have the right to not associate with Schilling’s message – but shouldn’t that same right be extended to religious individuals? 

Saying that the new push for open bathrooms is political correctness in overdrive, Ted Cruz wants to know, “Have we gone stark raving mad?” 

And Rush Limbaugh thinks liberals want to eliminate the very idea of morality. 

Target is facing a backlash over its very liberal transgender restroom policy, and some are pointing out that such policies have already put women and young girls at risk.

Is it possible that the Republican convention could be rigged – in favor of Trump? 

Trump is taking heat for going along with the transgender attack on women’s restrooms, for supporting tax increases, and for seeking to water down the Republican Party’s platform plank against abortion. 

Let’s see if he can win points with conservatives with the list of potential Supreme Court nominees he’s promising. 

Here in New York, we can expect to see more of this type of hypocrisy as our $15 minimum wage kicks in – and get ready for stories like this, reported by the Daily Signal, of small businesses being ruined by this “progressive” plan.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio makes a racially insensitive joke that would have most politicians resigning in disgrace, Hillary Clinton throws him under the bus, and the media elites tell us it’s really not a big deal. This is your Democratic Party, folks. 

The Mayor’s had a rough week – from the corruption probe that may be turning into a web of lies and to the off-color joke, to his role as the “bad guy” in New York’s primary campaign… and his job approval ratings are tanking.

In presidential politics, the New York Post has endorsed Donald Trump, while the Washington Free Beacon wants to know what John Kasich thinks he’s accomplishing by staying in the race. (Fun fact: Kasich currently has fewer delegates than Marco Rubio, who is no longer a candidate.)

The Democratic debate was a brawl, with Hillary blasting Bernie and Bernie mocking Hillary – or, as John Podhoretz puts it, “just old people yelling.” 

Meanwhile the upstate job slump continues – and this is before Andrew Cuomo’s $15-an-hour minimum wage kicks in. Workers will continue to suffer under this new mandate, but unions will reap the benefits.

Will Canada’s new push for “assisted suicide” be the model for New York? The culture of death is indeed flourishing, though Jonah Goldberg notes that in the battle over abortion there’s a truth that liberals can’t deny, but try to desperately.

Here’s the state of our world: America is this close to war with Russia, North Korea continues its missile push and our country is literally being invaded thanks to lax immigration laws and border security. 

But the baseball season is in full swing, spring is here, and it’s shaping up to be a beautiful weekend. Have a great one!

To bolster his own legacy, President Obama this week stood in the shadow of Che Guevara and the Castro brothers, and even tried to exploit America’s history to celebrate the Cuban “revolution.” 

The Washington Times notes that, despite claims from the Left, America’s Cuba policy hasn’t been a complete failure. 

The Daily Signal has six questions Obama should have asked Castro – but instead, the President welcomed the Castros’ America bashing and was treated like nothing more than a puppet. 

Cuban dissidents were frustrated by Obama’s trip, and the country’s political prisoners were left in the lurch. 

And the President didn’t seem the least bit bothered by the Brussels terrorist attack, since there was a much more important baseball game taking place.

Now in Argentina, Obama is bashing Americans himself and literally dancing as the world burns.

Hillary has criticized Donald Trump and Ted Cruz for their calls for greater surveillance of Muslim neighborhoods – but all she has to offer are clichés and platitudes. 

In the presidential race, as Ted Cruz continues to build support, John Podhoretz warns him and John Kasich that the GOP convention will never nominate them. 

This week marked the six-year anniversary of Obamacare, but it was more of a wake than a birthday party. 

Meanwhile here in our state, New York City is finally getting serious about the recent, alarming rise in knife violence. But labor unions and their lawmaker allies refuse to get serious about how many jobs the $15 minimum wage will eliminate – and the more jobs that are lost, the more New York’s population will collapse.

This week President Obama played politics with the Supreme Court, of course. Alexander Hamilton would not be pleased. 

It’s important for conservatives to stand united, because so many vital issues hang in the balance – from gun control and the right to life, to Obamacare and amnesty, to religious freedom, national security and “global warming” regulations.

Harry Reid, though, is confident that the GOP will cave and do Obama’s bidding. 

As this battle plays out, the New York Post reminds us that Republicans are playing by the Democrats’ rules – but really, the Biden Rule is a good guide for the GOP in this fight.

The Biden Rule holds that, “once the political season is underway… action on a Supreme Court nomination must be put off until after the election campaign is over. That is what is fair to the nominee, and essential to the process.”

This week the New York Times gets an “F” in economics with an absurd defense of Andrew Cuomo’s proposed $15 minimum wage. 

There are two studies out on the minimum wage – one that says the pay hike will create jobs and help the economy, and another that shows a devastating effect.

But it’s possible that the rosier study made a big miscalculation.

Meanwhile, as it becomes more likely that both parties’ presidential fights will run long, this week was a tale of two debates…

On the Democratic side, more lies from Hillary Clinton – even as she had the nerve to call the mother of a Benghazi victim a liar. 

Guy Benson provides a video keeping count of all the lies – and surprisingly, Hillary did face some tough questions about her emails in this week’s debate.
 
On the Republican side, the GOP circus continues – though everyone was playing nice with Donald Trump at Thursday night’s debate, while Trump himself adopted a softer tone. 
 
Ben Carson is playing very nice with Trump now, giving his endorsement just before the Florida primary.
