Weekly Wrap-Up

Is our nation more divided than ever? Probably, because Democrats are tilting to the extreme left like never before.

Can blue states survive? The situation in Connecticut isn’t promising, and of course New York has suffered as a result of liberal policies. Being obsessed with the Trump Resistance instead of fiscal responsibility probably isn’t helping.

Speaking of left turns, this week saw Bill de Blasio on the hot seat for his mismanagement of New York City, and we were once again reminded that de Blasio can always find someone to blame when things don’t go his way.

As we noted earlier this week, Nicole Malliotakis did an outstanding job – you can find debate coverage here, here, here and here.

This week we saw the left’s culture war on America’s institutions as the Boy Scouts announced their plans to admit girls – another obvious salvo in our culture’s war on boys.  The Girl Scouts aren’t happy, and even some conservatives aren’t worried, but if you ask me it’s just the start of the destruction of the Boy Scouts.

We saw leadership this week from White House Chief of Staff John Kelly, who is smacking down the foolishness of the biased news media and the incompetence and dishonesty of liberal reporters.

Meanwhile President Trump is taking care of business for the American people.

A highlight of this week was President Trump’s stand for health care freedom, as he took a wrecking ball to Obamacare with a new executive order to help expand the ability of small businesses to purchase health care for their employees – while increasing health-care affordability.  

The President also struck a blow for climate sanity by getting rid of President Obama’s nice-sounding but destructive Clean Power Plan – and he gave Americans a $33 billion tax cut in the process.

Today President Trump is announcing his plans to end Iran’s “pursuit of death and destruction” and “deny the Iranian regime all paths to a nuclear weapon.”

Finally President Trump delivered an outstanding speech in Pennsylvania on the need for tax relief – a chance to seriously drain the swamp and get our economy moving.

Did you know, one in four NYC government workers earn over $100,000 per year.  Mayor de Blasio defends the high compensation, while some may question why many school custodians earn more than principals. 

Paul Harvey would have a lot to say about this in his Rest of the Story clips:  NFL players’ union teamed up with Soros to fund leftist advocacy groups.   John Merline opines in Investor’s Business Daily on what is “Patriotic” these days. 

The US Senate is not doing their job…the Conservative Action Project is on record reinforcing the need to confirm President Trump’s nominees.  Their memo may have jolted Sen. Conrad Black writes in the NY Sun about the disgraceful charade unfolding in the battle over evidence twixt Mueller and Congress.    

How can a country that takes in $3.3 trillion in taxes be so deeply in debt?  Congress’s addiction to spending is the reason and it is possible that the addiction may be a real threat to tax reform.   There is hope as long as Congress does the right thing and President Trump continues to roll back President Obama’s restrictive regulations.  Congress could save taxpayers $3.7 million if they closed this perk or at the very least scaled it back to a reasonable cost. 

Fred Lucas writes in the Daily Signal what Trump could learn from the Reagan Immigration Amnesty and what President Trump told Congress he wants to see in immigration.

California has officially lost all sense of reality.  They release convicted felons early due to overcrowded prisons and then they pass a law that allows a sentence up to one year if you misuse the preferred gender pronoun in nursing homes.  Governor Brown (AKA Gov. Moonbeam) is responsible for both actions. 

Walt Heyer, a former transgendered, says transgendered youth need help, not affirmation.

Then there is this:  Boy Scouts will start admitting girls to the Cub Scouts.  One of the reasons they cite for adopting this change is because participation is down…did they even consider that population is down?

Amazing advances in the medical field:  Surgical implants that grow with a child, accomplished in private teaching hospitals.

This week the evil Las Vegas attack brought out the best in Americans, and also once again showed the ignorance and self-righteousness of the gun-control lobby.

We need a gun debate based on facts, not emotion – and the primary fact to remember is that the left doesn’t want “sensible” gun control, they want to overturn the Second Amendment. They can’t be honest, though, because the “evil” NRA that the Left loves to bash is in fact a force made up of actual, informed voters.

File this under “Common Sense” – tax relief will mainly benefit those who pay the most taxes.

And while many politicians TALK about deregulation, but President Trump is getting the job done. Even as Congress can’t get its act together and repeal Obamacare, the President is doing what he can to protect taxpayers from Obamacare’s overspending. 

I found this article called “What Trump Has Undone” – an ongoing account by the Washington Post of President Trump’s efforts to roll back the regulatory state. Of course the liberals at the Post are horrified, but to me it shows that the President is serious about reclaiming our government for we, the people.

I’ve compiled a list of just some of the rollbacks that I think would be most intriguing to Conservative Party supporters – for the second question in our new Weekly Poll, have a look at this list and tell me which reversal of big-government you support the most.

The Post’s outrage-disguised-as-reporting shows a phenomenon I think we’ve all noticed – the media is no longer even trying to appear objective. They hate Trump and have from the very start, and the media hacks will attack everything he does.

With that in mind, consider this outrageous story right in our own state. Anyone who knows Rep. Elise Stefanik understands just how insulting it is to suggest that she doesn’t think for herself – but don’t expect a peep out of the Democrats or the biased media liberals who are baffled by conservative women (and who have taken gobs of money from sexual predators – Sens. Schumer and Gillibrand, we’re looking at you.)

Michael Goodwin’s logic and common sense delivers another timely column:  Liberals’ gun control blame game is out of control.  Be sure to read to the end of his column where he derides Michelle Obama and Hilllary Clinton. 

Leah Libresco opines in the Washington Post how she used to think gun control was the answer, however, her research told her otherwise.  Ms. Libresco’s last sentence “We save lives by focusing on a range of tactics to protect the different kinds of potential victims and reforming potential killers, not from sweeping bans focused on the guns themselves (emphasis added)” is exactly on point. 

Katherine Timpf explains that the Second Amendment is the argument, either the Constitution has the power to protect our freedoms or it doesn’t.

The IRS did what?  The IRS will pay Equifax $7.25 million to verify taxpayer identities and help prevent fraud under a no-bid contract issued last week, even as lawmakers lash the embattled company about a massive security breach that exposed personal information of as many as 145.5 million Americans.  No-bid contract…it is time to have a simple tax code and shutdown the IRS!

Congressman Trent Franks calls for a straight up or down vote in the Senate on the late abortion Bill.  We couldn’t agree more.  Sen. Schumer, will you push for a straight up or down vote?  How about you, Sen. Gillibrand? 

The headline says:  Cuomo prepares for possible federal funding cuts, the question is, why has he waited so long when he knew it was coming?  His analogy shows his lack of leadership.

File this under Irony, or better yet, just have a good laugh at their expense.

This is the America I know:  A community of heroes .  One maniac does the unthinkable for whatever reason, and the majority of Americans react like true humanitarians.  This is America, a country that comes together for each other, they portray the American ideals that this nation is built on, “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”   Americans will always come together when evil shows its ugly, aggressive face; the difficulty is staying together when evil isn’t as recognizable and vicious.

This just boggles my mind:  CBS fires vice president who said Vegas victims didn’t deserve sympathy because country music fans ‘often are Republican’…CBS was absolutely right to fire her, the question is, how does someone with so much hatred become a vice president at CBS?

It’s been a tough week for the Republican Establishment and the party’s self-proclaimed leaders, and the one-and-only Rush Limbaugh let the party elites have it on Hannity this week.

Here in New York, Mayor Bill de Blasio refuses to get serious about school safety, and this is the result. Yet another reason for New York City to choose a different path.

If anyone was going to partake in cheap symbolism, you’d think it would be Barack Obama, but at a recent golf event he stood with two of his fellow former Presidents for the national anthem. So why can’t pro football get the message?

Maybe the NFL is afraid of its players, as President Trump says.  The league should certainly be worried when players snub fans like this.

Ed Mullins, President of the Sergeants Benevolent Association (the fourth largest police union in the country)  for taking out a full-page advertisement in today’s NY Daily News that essentially asks NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to join him at the table to talk about what law enforcement and the NFL can do to better protect and serve the communities we all care about.  Sgt. McMahon, NY’s leading tax expert,  has this analysis.  Since the actual language has not been written yet, New Yorkers are in limbo not knowing if we will pay more or less.  One thing is certain…New York has to cut spending or the exodus of people will become a stampede of New Yorkers moving to less taxed states.

I must admit, this is one of the most disappointing photos I have ever seen.  How do you defend the core values of America when you believe “communism will win?”  He, of course, is encouraged to have his own opinion; this is America and we try not to coerce people to think exactly the same, albeit, lately it certainly seems as if we do.  The vast majority of American’s love our country and our Flag and stand when singing the National Anthem, we truly appreciate the freedoms granted us by the US Constitution and defended for us by veterans, far too many of whom have given there all.  But there are those who don’t, like the man in the photo and those who are #takingtheknee; and we take offense.  Perhaps, those who don’t see it our way, will eventually learn that they live in a country that has supported their right to disrespect the symbol of freedom.  Try #takingtheknee in North Korea, Iran, China, Cuba, Russia.   Our freedoms will not protect you there; then maybe they would understand our disappointment in their disrespect. 

It is even more disappointing  to watch #takingtheknee  when Americans realize that the NFL is subsidized by our tax dollars!  Money that could be used for education, housing, or safer roads.

The “#take a knee” controversy continued last night…apparently the Dallas Cowboys and the Arizona Cardinals did not read Rich Lowry’s column yesterday.  Maybe the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers will read this before Thursday night’s game.  Every NFL team, owner, commentator , political pundit, late-night talk show hosts, and left-wing zealots, should give some serious thought to the fact that calling Trump’s remarks on NFL anthem protesters racist is what drives people to himWesley Pruden  shares his thoughts on what is most likely a self-defeating phenomenon in his Washington Times column.   Dennis Prager wants to know Who’s Divisive — the President or the Players?

The far left progressives should read this editorial: Viewers voting with the remote control when it comes to mixing sports, entertainment and progressive politics and consider that they have been forewarned. 

George J. Marlin writes in Newsmax that global religious persecution ignored is unconscionable.  It is and so is Hate, Bernie style as explained by Robert Knight in the Washington Times.

Illegal voting takes place, just ask the Philadelphia election commissioners.

President Trump’s new travel ban is standard security policy

Cuomo says major budget changes may be needed if New York loses $2B in health care funding.  Really Governor Cuomo?  You didn’t plan for this? What kind of manager are you…you knew it was possible that it would happen.  Poor planning, Governor.  Like so many other things you plan…you would rather spend$100 million to improve the operations and appearance of MTA facilities, instead of helping the riders have a safer trip to work each day. 

By the way, Governor, you really need to study the definition of “immigrant”  — a person who migrates to another country, usually for permanent residence.  Doesn’t your birth certificate say you were born in New York City NY.  If so, please explain, why you say you are an immigrant.  Also, we are proud of the immigrants who have come to America to contribute to our way of life, we do not support those who come into our country illegally and flaunt the rule of law
