Another Hochul Power Grab: Statement from New York State Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar
“Governor Kathy Hochul has no interest in fair and honest government. Her latest assault on New York’s Constitutional protections has made it official. It’s all power politics all the time now in Albany — Democracy be damned.
“The Conservative Party will support coming legal efforts to defend the rights of New York voters, just as we support Congressman Mike Lawler’s call for a RICO investigation of top-to-bottom corruption in New York State government.
“The Governor and her progressive colleagues will stop at nothing to rig the New York election process to their advantage, something they have repeatedly tried to do over the past several years. These naked attempts have been stopped in court, one after another, by the Conservative Party and other defenders of democratic norms. The Governor should expect another major legal battle on her hands.
“Voters of all parties are Constitutionally entitled to representation in Washington and Albany. Delaying special elections for political primacy is wrong. It’s ‘anti-democratic’, as the progressives like to say. Their hypocrisy is rich.”
CPPAC 2025 was an incredible success, energizing conservatives across New York and beyond as we head into another crucial election year. Our two-day event this past Sunday and Monday featured an impressive lineup of conservative speakers who delivered powerful speeches on the most pressing issues facing our Nation and State. From discussions on election integrity to policies that promote economic growth, public safety, micron chips, and shed light on our Northern Border immigration crisis, every speaker reinforced our shared commitment to putting America first. The enthusiasm in the room was undeniable, and it was clear that attendees left more motivated than ever to engage in the political process. I would like to thank our speakers, legislators, committeemen, chairmen, and our supporters for making our conference great. Without you all, there would not be a Conservative Party. For those who couldn’t attend, we will soon be releasing photos and videos from the event so everyone can experience it firsthand. You can go to our Facebook here to see some of the pictures for now. I hope to see you again next year!
Pam Bondi Confirmed as U.S. Attorney General
The United States Senate has officially confirmed Pam Bondi as the next U.S. Attorney General, a strong and principled leader who will fully support President Trump’s agenda. Bondi, the former Attorney General of Florida, built a reputation as a tough prosecutor and staunch advocate for the rule of law. During her Senate hearing, while facing gross attacks from Democrats, Pam made it very clear she will follow the rule of law and will not be afraid to prosecute. Throughout her career, she has taken on major cases involving consumer fraud, human trafficking, and corporate misconduct, always putting the interests of the American people first. She is already off to a strong start in her new role, immediately taking action against sanctuary cities that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. Her leadership at the Department of Justice will be critical in ensuring law and order, and we are confident that she will serve with integrity and common sense. Now, we still await the confirmation of RFK Jr., Tulsi Gabbard, Kash Patel and Elise Stefanik. We anticipate the confirmation of all of President Trump’s Cabinet picks.
Democrats Election Manipulation
The biggest political controversy this week comes from Albany, where the Governor and Legislative Democrats were caught attempting to manipulate the political calendar to keep the 21st Congressional District unfilled and to gain a major political advantage in the Brooklyn State Senate seat.
The Governor using a rarely issued emergency message was planning to introduce legislation that the Democratic Majorities would pass allowing her to significantly delay the Congressional election, leaving 770,000 residents unrepresented. In addition, the second part of the scheme would change the special election for State Senate in Brooklyn to Mayoral primary day. Thus, immensely increasing the odds of a Democrat winning a seat that Zeldin and Trump won overwhelmingly.
The Party called a press conference in Albany attended by myself, Congressman Mike Lawler, Senate GOP Leader Robert Ortt and Assembly GOP Leader Will Barclay. Ortt and Barclay declared that they would use every tactic at their disposal to fight in the Legislature. I indicated that the Conservative Party would take legal action and Congressman Lawler called for a DOJ RICO investigation of the NYS government.
We won the first round. As of this writing, the bill and message which was expected to be introduced is on hold. Although I cannot be certain what the final outcome will be, it is important that this blatant effort to interfere in an established political timetable be called out at every opportunity. You can watch the full press conference with myself, Congressman Lawler, Leader Ortt and Leader Barclay here.
I know we have been talking about CPPAC for a while now, but the time has finally come! You can view the full schedule here:
Just to give you a glimpse of Sunday, the event begins at 11:30 AM with on-site registration/check-in, and at 12:15 PM, I will deliver the welcome address in Governor’s Hall. Following this, at 12:30 PM, Andrew Giuliani will present “The First 100 Days: A Personal Report of What to Expect from the President.” At 1:15 PM, pollster and strategic consultant John McLaughlin will discuss “How President Trump Made Gains in New York.”
At 2:00 PM, Maud Maron, a candidate for Manhattan District Attorney, will speak on “The Madness of Alvin Bragg’s Manhattan.” At 2:45 PM, Senator George Borrello and Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh will lead “Surveying the Session: What Can New Yorkers Expect in 2025?” At 3:30 PM, Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman will discuss “Winning the ‘Burbs: How Commonsense Conservatism Is Holding the Line on Long Island.”
At 4:15 PM, attendees can participate in breakout sessions. Options include “Campaign 101: What to Know About Hiring and Working with Political Consultants” with Thomas Dunham and Chapin D. Fay in Governor’s B, or “Leveraging Your Local Committee: How to Conduct Candidate Screening Interviews” with Gerard Kassar, Fran Vella-Marrone, and Chris Kendall in Governor’s Hall. At 5:00 PM, Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin will give remarks, followed by “Meet the Members: Introducing the Conservative Class of ‘25” at 5:15 PM.
The evening continues at 6:00 PM with the “Rookie” Reception in the East Gallery, where guests can enjoy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and the opportunity to mingle with newly elected legislators, including State Senators Steve Chan and Rob Rolison, as well as Assembly Members Andrea Bailey, Paul Bologna, Patrick Chludzinski, Andrew Molitor, Daniel Norber, Joseph Sempolinski, Kalman Yeger, and Jamie Williams.
After-hour events begin at 8:00 PM, offering two options for attendees. “Catching Up with Your Fellow Conservative” will take place in the Lobby Lounge, while the “Cigar & Story Hour” will run until 11:00 PM at a location to be announced. Monday is just as packed with awesome speakers, Press Conferences, Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Award Reception, and much more.
Zeldin Confirmed, Stefanik Advances to Floor Vote
Congratulations to former Congressman Lee Zeldin from Long Island on his confirmation as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. With a decisive Senate vote of 56-42, Zeldin has officially taken on this critical role. His years of experience representing New York, his strong stance on policy, and his commitment to protecting both the environment and American industry make him an excellent choice for the position. President Trump made a well-calculated nomination, ensuring that the EPA will be led by someone who understands the balance between environmental stewardship and economic growth. We have no doubt that Zeldin will bring his expertise and integrity to the agency, delivering results for the American people. You can read our press release here.
Meanwhile, another of New York’s own, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, has moved one step closer to confirmation for her new role. The Senate Foreign Relations Committee has voted to advance her nomination to the Senate floor, which could very well be happening as you read this. Stefanik has been a powerhouse in Congress, known for her strong leadership, sharp policy acumen, and unwavering commitment to American interests both at home and abroad. Her experience and dedication make her the perfect candidate to be our next Ambassador to the UN. As the full Senate prepares to vote, we have every confidence that her confirmation will be swift and decisive. Elise has consistently proven herself as a champion for conservative values and a fierce advocate for her constituents, and there is no doubt that she will continue to excel in this new role.
Trump Ice Raids
We are only 11 days into the Trump Administration and we are already seeing extraordinary results. ICE has been active all over the country to find, arrest, and deport illegal alien criminals. What is best is, ICE is going directly into the belly of the beast, otherwise known as sanctuary cities, where illegal crime has been allowed to run rampant. Just the other day, ICE raided parts of NYC gathering hundreds of serious offenders such as pedophiles, murderers, violent offenders, gang members, etc. These criminals being arrested are the worst of the worst and should have never been allowed to walk our streets in the first place. Trump continues to stand on his “Promises made, promises kept” agenda. Tom Homan being at the side of the President is just an added plus for our America First Movement. He is doing a fantastic job so far, and I don’t see that stopping anytime soon.

Statement on Zeldin Confirmation as EPA Administrator by New York State Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar
“The New York State Conservative Party salutes the Senate for wisely confirming former Congressman Lee Zeldin as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), a cabinet-level position in the new Trump Administration. The EPA vastly overreached during the Biden Administration, creating a counterproductive regulatory environment that suppressed billions of dollars in economic growth. Congressman Zeldin has the smarts and temperament to find the proper balance between environmental conservation and hysteria. It’s what the American people want.”

Statement on Confirmation of Sean Duffy as Trump Transportation Secretary by New York State Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar
“We hope [Duffy’s] first act as Transportation Secretary will be the repeal of the unfair and unnecessary Congestion Pricing Tax. Nothing would make New Yorkers happier.”
“The New York State Conservative Party congratulates former Wisconsin Congressman Sean Duffy on being confirmed as President Trump’s new Transportation Secretary. President Trump made an inspired choice in Mr. Duffy. Secretary Duffy knows his way around Washington well, but more importantly for New Yorkers, he knows his way around the Big Apple as a former Fox News contributor. We hope that his first act as Transportation Secretary will be the repeal of the unfair and unnecessary Congestion Pricing Tax. Nothing would make New Yorkers happier.”

Hochul Spending Out of Control; Will Drive More New Yorkers Out of State: New York State Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar
‘New Yorkers Can’t Afford Any More of Gov. Hochul’s Affordability Plans.’
“No matter how loudly New Yorkers cry ‘uncle’, Gov. Kathy Hochul refuses to hear them. With the State drowning in debt, taxes, and nuisance fees, and with many families and small businesses hanging onto solvency by their fingernails, Mrs. Hochul is proposing a massive $10 billion increase in an already bloated State budget. This governor actually seems to believe — through magical thinking — that more government spending is the secret to ‘affordability’ in New York.
“Well, Governor Hochul, New Yorkers can’t afford any more of your affordability plans. The Governor’s proposed $252 billion budget is patently absurd. It’s well more than twice the size of Florida’s budget — a state with two million more people — and, under the same budget plan, New York will continue having the highest combined income taxes in America. Here’s our advice to New Yorkers: Invest in moving trucks in 2025. Until we break up one-party rule in Albany, the exodus will continue.”
It is not a mystery why our State has been in a rapid decline for years. One-party Democrat rule has made our state unlivable; between crime, illegal immigration crisis, and affordability, pick your reason why New York leads in out-migration. You would think during Governor Hochul’s State of the State, she would at least take “some” responsibility for her disastrous policies, but instead, she has doubled down, ensuring life is picture perfect in New York!
Governor Kathy Hochul is going to continue to tax, spend, and toll financially teetering New Yorkers into ‘affordability’ whether they like it or not. That’s the clear but absurd takeaway from the Governor’s State of the State address.
Mrs. Hochul seems to actually believe that expanding government — taking and spending even more of our money — is the way to bring relief to cash-strapped New Yorkers who perennially pay some of the highest taxes in America. That’s the exact governing attitude that put working- and middle-class New Yorkers in the hole they now occupy. Where is the common sense? Read our full press release here:

Zeldin and Stefanik Confirmation Hearing
Yesterday, former Congressman and Gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin had his Senate hearing to become the next Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Lee has been a long-time friend, and supporter of the Party for years. We were thrilled to see President Trump nominate him, and expect a swift confirmation. Yesterday’s hearing just proved our point. Lee knocked it out of the park, and made his case that he is the best fit for the job to wrangle in spending, work on de-regulation so our businesses can thrive, and “drill baby drill!” Lee has my, and the Conservative Party’s full support. You can watch his full hearing here:
Another one of New York’s finest, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, will have her hearing on January 21st to be the next Ambassador to the United Nations. I am sure many of you know Elise very well, as she has also been a major supporter of the Conservative Party and our endeavors. It is clear Elise is the most qualified, and nobody will work harder to make sure the United States interests come first on the international playing field. Elise is one of the smartest people I know, and I know a lot of us are sad to see her vacate her Congressional seat, but President Trump understood we need a strong leader to represent us at the United Nations, and there’s no better choice than Elise. With her confirmation hearing rapidly approaching, she has the full weight of the Conservative Party supporting, and cheering for her.

State of the State Response from New York State Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar
“Governor Hochul Laid an Egg at The Egg.”

That’s the exact governing attitude that put working- and middle-class New Yorkers in the hole they now occupy. Where is the common sense?
“The Governor has also made clear that she refuses to do anything of substance to address the crime and illegal migrant crises that her party directly caused with pro-criminal laws. Nothing but the full repeal of cashless bail, re-implementation of ‘Broken Windows’ policing, and ending New York’s counterproductive ‘sanctuary’ policies will accomplish those goals.
‘To Governor Hochul and her progressive colleagues running all three branches of state government, ‘affordability’ is the new buzzword. But to millions of New Yorkers eyeing the exit doors to other states, it’s the antonym for New York. This state is famously unaffordable, and Governor Hochul’s tired, big-government vision will only make things worse. Governor Hochul laid an egg at The Egg.”

2025 Legislative Session
This past Tuesday and Wednesday, I had the pleasure of heading to Albany for the first day of legislative session with our Kings County Chairwoman Fran Vella-Marrone, and our Director of Operations Andrew Davis. We also were happy to attend the Swearing-In ceremony for our fantastic new Assembly and Senate members. I would like to congratulate Andrea Bailey (133rd A.D.), Paul Bologna (144th A.D.), Pat Chludzinski (143rd A.D.), Andrew Molitor (150th A.D.), Daniel Norber (16th A.D.), Joseph Sempolinski (148th A.D.), Kalman Yeger (41st A.D), Jaime Williams (59th A.D.) and State Senator Steve Chan (17th S.D). The Party and I are excited for them to hit the ground running and help us save New York!
Shut Down New York Reparations Committee Before it Wastes Another Nickel
New York’s divisive ‘Community Commission on Reparations Remedies’ has blown through most of its $5 million budget with zero to show for it. Now it wants more time — and another $5 million to waste. Shocker.
Virtue signaling Democrats controlling the State Legislature will almost certainly renew the Commission — at any cost — knowing full well, in advance, what its recommendations will be: wealth distribution, the same goal the political Left has had since Marx published The Communist Manifesto in 1848. Reparations are just the latest tactic, and New Yorkers aren’t falling for it. You can read the full press release here:
State Senate Republicans Blast Mismanaged MTA
Senate Republicans representing the Hudson Valley, New York City, and Long Island are spot on calling for the resignation or removal of MTA Chairman Janno Lieber following his dismissive comments about subway crime, which he claimed is “in people’s heads.” This is a summary of the legislators comments:
Steve Rhoads: Criticized Lieber’s detachment from working-class realities and called for Governor Hochul to act if Lieber does not resign.
Andrew Lanza: Urged Lieber to personally experience the transit system to understand riders’ concerns, citing horrific incidents.
Jack M. Martins: Highlighted the importance of law enforcement, fiscal responsibility, and opposition to congestion pricing.
Patricia Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick: Labeled Lieber’s comments as a betrayal of transit riders.
Steve Chan & Bill Weber: Emphasized widespread opposition to congestion pricing and its impact on everyday New Yorkers.
Rob Rolison: Voiced support for police and called Lieber’s remarks disrespectful to NYPD officers.
Anthony Palumbo: Stressed the need for prioritizing safety and affordability in 2025.
Dean Murray & Alexis Weik: Called for a financial control board to oversee the MTA due to fiscal mismanagement.

“We confidently predict that the Commission’s findings will lead to other ethnic groups demanding redress for past injustices. Indeed, turning New Yorkers against one another based on their skin color is now official state policy, arguably. Is it any wonder Americans are turning away from the Party of Jefferson and Jackson? (these former presidents have been lamentably cancelled by the Left.)
“Meanwhile, what has the ‘Commission’ accomplished? Can they show us their work product? New York Taxpayers are all eyes. Where’s the beef?”

Pray for New Orleans
On New Year’s night, the nation was struck by a horrific act of terrorism in New Orleans. A man with connections to ISIS and carrying an ISIS flag used a rented truck to mow down countless innocent people, killing over 15 and injuring many others. In a further attempt to sow chaos and fear, IEDs were found at the scene, though, by the grace of God, they did not detonate. This tragic event has left our nation grieving, as families mourn the loss of loved ones and survivors face a long road to recovery.
Adding insult to this unimaginable tragedy, later that day in New York City, Hamas and ISIS sympathizers shamelessly took to the streets to voice their support for these heinous acts of terrorism. Such demonstrations of hatred and violence have no place in our country. They serve only to further divide us and dishonor the memory of the victims.
Now more than ever, we must stand united against the forces of terror and extremism. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims, our prayers for the injured, and our gratitude to the brave first responders who acted swiftly to prevent even greater devastation.
Let this be a moment for Americans to reaffirm our resolve to protect our homeland, uphold our values, and denounce any form of support for those who perpetrate violence against the innocent.
New York City’s Subway Crisis
The recent violence in New York City’s subway system is a chilling reminder of the dire state of our city under the failed policies of Governor Kathy Hochul and President Joe Biden. In one horrific incident, an illegal Guatemalan alien, previously deported under President Trump, re-entered the country through our open borders. This individual, who found taxpayer-funded shelter and food in NYC, senselessly lit a sleeping woman on fire in the subway. This tragic event underscores how sanctuary city policies, catch-and-release practices, and cashless bail have empowered criminals to commit the most heinous acts without fear of consequence.
This is not an isolated incident. Just days ago, a young man was shoved onto the subway tracks, narrowly escaping with his life. Stabbings, assaults, and the presence of dangerous, unwell individuals have become daily occurrences. Despite this, our governor has the audacity to claim the subway has never been safer. A statement that defies reality for anyone who rides it without private security.
Transportation is further complicated by Democrat politicians finalizing congestion pricing, a regressive tax that penalizes hardworking New Yorkers and forces them to risk their lives on an unsafe subway system. This scheme further burdens everyday Americans, who are already struggling to navigate our crumbling city.
New York City is in crisis. We need real leadership to restore safety, accountability, and common sense to our city and our nation. On January 20th, when President Trump resumes office, criminals like this will be dealt with swiftly, and our borders will once again be secured. We are confident Tom Homan will be successful in the largest illegal alien deportation effort the world has ever seen. We will not rest until the average American can live, work, and travel safely in what was once the greatest city in the world.
As we prepare to welcome 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect on an extraordinary year and express our gratitude to you, our loyal supporters, candidates, volunteers, and advocates.
This year, together, we’ve fought tirelessly to uphold the values that make New York strong; defending individual liberties, supporting law and order, advocating for fiscal responsibility, ensuring election integrity, and fighting liberal policies that are kneecapping our once great State. Whether it was through your participation in local campaigns, attending our events, volunteering your time, or simply sharing our message, you played a crucial role in advancing our mission.
Despite the challenges we faced, we’ve witnessed some incredible victories. President Donald Trump received more votes on the New York State Conservative Party line for President than any other presidential candidate since Nixon in 1972.
President-Elect Trump officially garnered 321,733 votes on the Conservative Party line this year, more than twice the Party’s statewide registration (158,797.) Indeed, in his three runs for President, Mr. Trump scored the second (2024: 321,733), third (2020: 296,335), and fourth highest (2016: 292,292) vote totals in the Party’s 62-year history.
As we step into 2025, we are filled with hope, momentum, and determination. The road ahead will demand more hard work, but together, we are ready to meet every challenge head-on. We are excited to continue this journey with you, building a better future for New York.
On behalf of everyone at the New York State Conservative Party, we wish you and your loved ones a joyous and prosperous New Year. May 2025 bring health, happiness, and strength as we work together toward our shared goals.
As Ronald Reagan often reminded us, every victory is a new beginning. The fight to save New York and preserve our freedoms is far from over.
Thank you for standing with us. Cheers to another year of success!

New Year, New Office
Effective last week, we have moved to a more modern, 1,100-square-foot first-floor office space. We have been in our 950-square-foot office space since April of 1989. It is bittersweet, but we are excited to move on to bigger and better things.
Our new address is 8829 Ft. Hamilton Parkway, Suite D1, Brooklyn NY, 11209. It is only a few blocks away and in the same community as our previous headquarters. Our office phone number will be remaining 718-921-2558, and our Newburgh office 845-564-7413. We hope you will come visit us and check out the new space.
