FLAG DAY 6/14/26

Flag Day

As we approach Flag Day this Sunday, we encourage all Americans to reflect on the meaning of our nation’s most cherished symbol, the Stars and Stripes.

The American flag stands for freedom, faith, patriotism, and the sacrifices made by generations of Americans who built, defended, and preserved the greatest nation on Earth. It is a symbol of our shared history, our national unity, and the values that continue to make America the Leader of the Free World. It is why we treat our flag with such respect and dignity, including the tradition of proper flag folding, flag flying, and making it the epicenter of all our events. The Pledge of Allegiance is not just a slogan, but a symbol of honor we owe to our nation and those who have served it.

This year is especially meaningful as our nation begins celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. The year ahead should be the most patriotic in our history. It is an opportunity to celebrate the courage of our Founding Fathers, the strength of the American people, and the blessings of liberty that has made our country a beacon of hope for the world.

As we commemorate Flag Day and look toward America 250, we proudly recognize the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who have defended our freedoms at home and abroad. We also honor the fallen heroes who are no longer with us today. Their sacrifice ensured that future generations would live free, and we remain forever grateful for their service to our nation.

Tomorrow, we encourage every New Yorker and every American to proudly display the American flag at their homes and businesses. The American Legion does a tremendous job laying out the history and guidelines of our flag, which can be read here. Put your flags up and fly them high. Let the Stars and Stripes fill us with hope and patriotism.

God Bless Our Military.

God Bless the United States of America.

And God Bless America.
