Chairman Kassar’s Weekly Wrap Up 3/14

NYC Terrorist Attack

Americans strongly believe in the right to free speech and peaceful assembly. Those freedoms are fundamental to our country. But what we are seeing more and more is those rights being abused by radicals who show up not to peacefully protest, but to create chaos and violence.

Recently in New York City, protests outside Gracie Mansion nearly turned into a mass-casualty terrorist attack. Two far left ISIS inspired terrorists from Pennsylvania allegedly traveled to NYC and threw explosive devices into the anti-Mamdani protestors. Authorities later confirmed the devices contained dangerous explosive materials capable of causing serious injury or death. Investigators say one suspect even hoped the attack would result in a death toll higher than the one seen during the Boston Marathon bombing.

Thankfully, the devices failed to detonate as intended and no one was killed. But make no mistake, the intent was clear.

What is especially disturbing is that individuals will come into our communities from out of state looking to cause destruction, all while enjoying the freedoms and opportunities this country provides. Reports indicate the suspect’s family were naturalized citizens, lived comfortably in America, in homes worth hundreds of thousands and even millions of dollars, yet somehow that was not enough.

Shortly after this, we saw another ISIS inspired terrorist who attempted to shoot up an ROTC classroom, and ended up killing the class instructor, A Lt. Col. in the military. Brave students sprang into action, subdued, and killed the terrorist before he could harm anyone else.

Years of open borders have resulted in this. This is our wake up call not to go back.

No Pay Raises for Albany Politicians

Just two years ago, Democrats in Albany quietly hiked their own part-time salaries 29%, from $110,000 to $142,000, making New York lawmakers the highest-paid state legislators in America. Spendthrift Governor Kathy Hochul, who publicly pretends to lament about state deficits, signed the historic pay increase without blinking an eye.

Now, almost unbelievably, Democrats in the state legislature want to do it again — and more! They want to raise their salaries another 26% this year — to $180,000 — and change legislative elections to every four years from every two, so they don’t have to run quite so often. How convenient.

In plain English, Democrats want bigger paychecks, fewer elections, and less accountability — for the privilege of driving New York State into a ditch economically and keeping it there.

Sustaining Membership

When the extreme left asks you, “Is this what you voted for?” The answer is a resounding yes. In 2025, President Trump delivered on his promises with stronger border security, support for law enforcement, tax cuts for the vast majority of Americans, and renewed respect for our country on the world stage. But here in New York, the fight is far from over. With Kathy Hochul still controlling Albany and radical leadership like Zohran Mamdani in New York City, we must work even harder to restore common-sense leadership. The Conservative Party has proven we can win, delivering over 321,000 votes for Donald Trump and helping elect seven conservative Republicans to Congress. Now we’re preparing an aggressive strategy for 2026 to break the Democrat supermajority, support strong candidates, and win elections across the state. But we need our members with us. Please consider renewing your 2026 membership today here and help us continue the fight for New York. Whether it’s a few dollars or more, it goes a long way. If you have already, we cannot thank you enough for your continued support.
