KASSAR: HOCHUL APPEAL ON MATCHING FUNDS CORRUPTION
SLAP IN THE FACE TO NEW YORK VOTERS
“The level of corruption here is staggering.”
“The New York State Supreme Court recently – and properly – threw out Governor Hochul’s cynical attempt to deny her Republican-conservative challenger for governor Bruce Blakeman the state matching funds he legally deserves. The court clearly ruled that New York State’s Public Campaign Finance Program changed the rules for statewide candidates at the last moment without properly notifying them, in what appears to any rational viewer as a gross political dirty trick.
“Now, outrageously, the Democratic Majority on the Public Campaign Finance Board is appealing that decision to a higher court in an attempt to put a thumb on the financial scale of Mr. Blakeman’s candidacy. The level of corruption here is staggering.
“Mrs. Hochul’s Democratic Party is now resorting to outright thievery in an effort to keep forcing a progressive agenda on New Yorkers who are being taxed out of the state by the hundreds of thousands.
“The Conservative Party doesn’t believe in public matching funds, but it does believe in fairness. And what Kathy Hochul is doing is unfair in the extreme. We will do everything in our power to fight for Mr. Blakeman’s rightful funding. The Appellate Court must reject this cynical appeal.
