Mayor Mamdani’s administration didn’t just roll out a new pied-à-terre tax. It published a searchable database containing the names and property addresses of hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers identified as potentially subject to the tax. Many of those that found themselves published on the database, the pied-à-terre tax didn’t even apply to them! To add insult to injury, they are assumed to be guilty by the masses, and have to fight for their innocence.
This is exactly why many people opposed this policy from the beginning. It’s one thing to debate tax policy. It’s another to make it easier to identify where people live. Whether you’re wealthy or middle class, Republican or Democrat, government should think carefully before compiling and widely publishing searchable databases of citizens’ personal information. Once that information is out, it can’t be taken back.
We have all seen the extremism coming from the radical left, and have watched it spill into real-world violence. The killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, with Luigi Mangione charged in the case, is a reminder that perceived symbols of wealth can become targets. Hochul and Mamdani’s government is getting more comfortable singling out groups of people based on wealth, publicly identifying them, and treating them as political villains. We have even seen prominent democrats who voted for Mamdani come out in opposition because they ended up on the list, and they know their radical base will turn on their own in a split second.
This tax list isn’t just about raising revenue. It’s all a part of the communist strategy that divides citizens into classes and pits them against one another. Whatever one’s politics, a government that normalizes publicly identifying citizens to advance a political agenda sets a precedent that should concern everyone. Today it’s luxury homeowners. When that tax base is run out of town, they will stretch it to the lower-Middle class.
A stern reminder to Governor Hochul and Mayor Mamdani: The government exists to protect the rights and safety of its citizens.

Of course she is running for re-election, which the Conservative Party is proud to support her, but she also serves on the Election Integrity Caucus in Congress.
