Have a Blessed Memorial Day

This Memorial Day weekend, as our nation prepares to observe Memorial Day tomorrow, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and sacrifice is the reason we have the freedom we enjoy today and continue to inspire generations of Americans.

We also remember our POW/MIA service members, those who never made it home and those whos remains are still being found and identified decades later from conflicts in Vietnam, Cambodia, Korea, and beyond. Every year, families finally receive long awaited answers, reminding us that America never stops searching for its heroes.

As Abraham Lincoln said, “It is for us the living to be dedicated to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced.” As our nation approaches 250 years of history and resilience, Memorial Day serves as a reminder that our freedoms were secured by the sacrifice of extraordinary Americans. For those serving now, we cannot thank you enough, and we pray you remain safe and healthy wherever you are.

This morning, despite the rain, I was honored to speak at the Kings County American Legion Memorial Day ceremony at Cypress Hills National Cemetery. Since 1981, this meaningful tradition has continued every year regardless of weather or circumstance, even during COVID, reflecting our communities commitment to honoring our fallen heroes.

I am grateful to the Kings County American Legion for once again allowing me the opportunity to participate in this important ceremony and help ensure that the sacrifices of our fallen are never forgotten.

Have a blessed Memorial Day.
