This week, the greatest nation on Earth turns 249 years old. The New York State Conservative Party takes immense pride in honoring the significance of this remarkable day in our nation’s history — July 4th. On behalf of our members and supporters, we extend our warmest greetings and best wishes to you and your family for a patriotic Fourth of July.
In 1776, a courageous group of 56 patriots risked their lives by boldly putting forward the idea that thirteen colonies could break free from the grip of the largest empire on the planet. They declared their belief “that all men are created equal, [and] that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.” Two and a half centuries later, this foundational belief remains in the hearts of Americans.
Every Independence Day, among the hot dogs, hamburgers, and fireworks, we remember the spirit of America and the freedom ignited by our Founding Fathers; a spirit that still lives on in most Americans. While we sometimes take it for granted, today we are reminded that America is the greatest country on Earth. We must continue to cherish the individual freedoms, personal responsibility, and limited government that the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution bestow upon us. Written in 1787, the Constitution continues to be the foundation of our Republic and a global symbol of freedom and democracy. These values shaped the America we know and love today.
In honor of Independence Day, I ask you to renew your commitment to preserving America’s legacy for years to come. President Dwight D. Eisenhower once said, “History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or timid.” This warning rings especially true today. We must be vigilant and firm in the face of pressures from the left and socialist ideologies that seek to erode our freedoms and expand government control. We cannot allow them to undermine this great nation or jeopardize the future we want for our families.
We must accept this mantle and instill in the next generation the values and principles that make this nation the greatest on Earth. As we honor the birth of our great nation, we wish every American a joyous and meaningful Independence Day. May God bless you, your families, and our beloved United States of America.
