PRESIDENT TRUMP’S STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS

President Trump laid out a bold, bright, common-sense vision for America’s future last week. His optimism in our nation’s potential could be felt by anyone who watched the speech. This is a President who truly believes in everyday Americans, and who sees a clear path forward for them out of the mires of progressivism.

At the same time, President Trump laid out a clear and damning case against the unbridled progressivism that nearly brought this country to its knees under President Joe Biden. The two distinct paths for America could not be more stark. The New York State Conservative Party reminds common sense New Yorkers that this year’s midterm elections will decide the path on which this country moves forward. It must be the America that believes in itself.

ASSEMBLY GOP RELEASE “LOWER PLAN” TO CURB ENERGY COSTS

The New York State Conservative Party strongly supports the Assembly Republican Conference’s LOWER Plan as a responsible and urgently needed response to New York’s worsening energy affordability crisis. We need relief now. New Yorkers are suffering under crushing utility bills, driven by radical green energy policies coming out of Democrat-run New York that have prioritized unrealistic mandates over affordability and reliability. Under the leadership of Minority Leader Ed Ra and Energy Committee Ranking Member Scott Gray, this proposal delivers meaningful help, including a direct rebate check of up to $400 for consumers to offset skyrocketing costs.

The plan also includes a $2 billion rebate program for low- and middle-income families, the return of unspent climate investment funds to ratepayers, and a recommitment to dependable energy by allowing retired natural gas plants to reopen and new facilities to be developed. After years of escalating costs under the mandates of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, it is clear that ambition without balance has consequences. The Conservative Party stands firmly behind this plan and calls for immediate action to restore affordability, reliability, and energy choice for all New Yorkers.

HERNANDEZ CALLS OUT NY GOV. INCOMPETENCE

Joseph Hernandez is calling out what we all see as a blatant weakening of oversight in New York State. Governor Kathy Hochul’s proposal to raise the contract review threshold from $50,000 to $300,000 would sideline the Comptroller’s independent review and allow billions of taxpayer dollars to move forward with far less scrutiny. That is not reform, that is removing guardrails. You do not weaken oversight unless you are comfortable with less transparency.

At the same time, federal investigators are probing New York’s $124 billion Medicaid program for fraud and waste. Billions in questionable spending have already been identified. That is not a minor accounting error, that is a systemic failure. While spending exploded, meaningful oversight clearly did not keep pace.

Hernandez is drawing a line. New Yorkers deserve a Comptroller who aggressively audits in real time, deploys a Fraud Strike Team, and stops improper payments before they spiral into billion-dollar disasters. His message is simple: accountability is not optional, and taxpayers should not be treated like an endless ATM for Albany insiders. Oversight must be strengthened, not quietly dismantled behind budget language. Follow Hernandez on Facebook here:
