I’ve been waiting a long time to finally say this: the government shutdown is over, and it never should have happened in the first place. For more than forty days, I watched a Democrat-driven shutdown grind essential services to a halt and inflict completely unnecessary stress on Americans who rely on them. SNAP recipients were left wondering how they’d feed their families, military service members and their spouses had to question when their next paycheck would arrive, airports dealt with cascading delays and staffing strain, and countless federal workers were forced to go without the salaries they depend on. All of this dragged on while the same deal, literally the same one, sat on the table from day one, but was rejected by Dems. The entire ordeal became a glaring display of political theatre, fueled by Chuck Schumer’s weakness and his obsession with placating the far-left and DSA wing to protect himself from a potential primary challenge by AOC. That was the driving force behind the prolonged chaos. Eventually, even some Senate Democrats couldn’t stomach their own leadership’s approach any longer. They crossed the line, voted to advance the bill, and once Congress followed and the President signed the clean CR, the shutdown finally ended. Voters will remember every bit of the posturing, the games, and the misleading narratives that defined this manufactured crisis.
CPPAC 2026 Save the Date
Save the Date for CPPAC 2026! We’re gathering on Sunday, February 1st, and Monday, February 2nd, 2026, at the Albany Hilton, and this year’s theme, “United We Stand,” reflects exactly where we need to be heading. Our two-day conference is already shaping up to be one of our strongest yet. Speakers will be announced on a rolling basis, and you’ll be able to follow the continually updated schedule online as we approach the event. If you’ve never been to CPPAC, now is the time to jump in! Take a look at last year’s recap or browse our YouTube page to watch past speakers and panels to get a feel for the energy and purpose behind this gathering. I’m looking forward to bringing conservatives from across the state together once again for a packed, motivating, and informative conference that strengthens our movement and our mission for the year ahead.
Ratings
The Conservative Party’s annual Assembly and Senate Ratings will be out next week! This year we rated 20 bills for the 2025 session, a few we supported, and the rest in opposition. The entire legislature is up for re-election and will be on the ballot in 2026.The ratings will be an important tool/resource during your interview process. I am very proud of the hard work that went on behind the scenes to get these ratings done, and thankful for the legislators that regularly vote with the Conservative Party.
In fact, this year, several Senators and Assembly members received a perfect Conservative rating. They will receive special recognition and will receive an award at CPPAC during our Legislative Reception portion. The Party looks forward to welcoming them and appreciate their dedication to our movement!
