On behalf of the New York State Conservative Party, I want to wish everyone a very Happy Columbus Day! I was especially glad to see President Trump sign an executive order officially un-canceling Columbus Day; restoring the honor, pride, and recognition that this day has long represented for generations of Americans.
For years, the Left has tried to rewrite history, tearing down statues, renaming holidays, and vilifying one of the most important figures in Western civilization. But we refuse to let them erase our shared heritage. Christopher Columbus symbolizes courage, faith, and discovery. His journey across the Atlantic in 1492 forever changed the course of human history, paving the way for the eventual founding of the greatest nation on earth.
Columbus Day celebrates the spirit of adventure, determination, and belief in something greater than oneself. These are the very principles that built America and they continue to define who we are as a people. So this weekend, and Monday, let’s proudly celebrate our history, our heroes, and the enduring legacy of exploration that made America the beacon of freedom it is today.
The Government Shutdown: Democrats to Blame
By the time you’re reading this, we’ll be ten days into the government shutdown, and once again, the blame lies squarely with Senator Schumer and the Democrats. Instead of leading, they’re bowing to the far-left fringe within their party, too afraid of being “primaried” to do what’s right for the American people.
They keep parroting the same tired talking point that Republicans control all branches of government, while conveniently ignoring that it takes 60 votes in the Senate to pass a funding bill, and Republicans hold only 53. The math is clear, but Democrats would rather mislead the public than work across the aisle for 7 votes. It’s time for Schumer, Jeffries, and the rest of their caucus to stop playing political games, pass the clean continuing resolution presented by Republicans, and pay our troops. The American people deserve leadership, not fear-driven obstruction.
A Historic Step Toward Peace
Finally, I want to congratulate President Trump on the historic peace deal announced this week between Israel and Hamas. Both sides have signed off on the first phase of a peace plan that will lead to the release of all hostages and a phased withdrawal toward an agreed-upon line, marking the first steps toward a strong, durable, and lasting peace.
This is a monumental diplomatic breakthrough, one that proves American strength can still bring even the most divided sides to the table. It’s a great day for Israel, the Arab and Muslim world, and the United States of America. President Trump’s leadership and commitment to peace have once again shown that when America leads with principle and conviction, the world is now safer and more stable. Blessed are the peacemakers!
