NEW YORK STATE CONSERVATIVE PARTY CHAIRMAN GERARD KASSAR ON EFFORT TO ERASE COLUMBUS DAY IN NEW YORK

Brooklyn, NY – “Woke politicians in New York love nothing more than virtue signaling, and they’re at it again this week in trying to replace Columbus Day with Indigenous People’s Day (A.10728 – Mitaynes; S. 2759 – Ramos). Talk about an empty gesture. If Assemblywoman Mitaynes and Senator Ramos truly want to make amends for the American history they despise, they’d submit legislation to return the state to Native Americans, starting with their own property.

“Any takers?

“In the meantime, those of us who appreciate U.S. history, as imperfect as it can be, will proudly celebrate Columbus Day again this year. Christopher Columbus is a major historical figure, of special significance to Americans of Spanish and Italian descent, and the national holiday in his name is well merited. It must remain.”

Nassau County – Sept. 25…Gerard Kassar has been unanimously reelected as Chairman of the New York State Conservative Party, it was announced today. Mr. Kassar was voted into a third two-year term by the Party’s State Committee which met in Nassau County on Saturday to elect officers and attend to other party business.

“I am thrilled to be given an opportunity to serve the NYS Conservative Party again as its State Chairman,” Mr. Kassar said. “My tenure as Chairman has been filled with exciting challenges and many successes. NEW YORK STATE CONSERVATIVE PARTY CHAIRMAN GERARD KASSAR ON IRANIAN PRESIDENT EBRAHAM RAISI SPEAKING AT UNITED NATIONS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bill@NovemberTeam.com
September 21, 2022

Brooklyn, NY – “Ebraham Raisi leads a terrorist state that has for decades turned on its own citizens.

“The recent morality-police-provoked death of a woman over a head covering is only a recent example of the evil that emanates from Iran on a day-to-day basis. Fortunately, the citizens of Iran are reacting, and the government will need to take notice.

“Iran is a human rights nightmare, and its secular leader should not be speaking at the United Nations. The United Nations, a body that regularly ignores atrocities against the citizens of Iran, who are oppressed in terms of free speech, equality, religion and even dress, should have used this session to send a strong message to Raisi and his government that Iran is not welcome here.

“The Biden Administration should have done the same. But instead, they are in negotiations to reverse the Trump Administration’s withdrawal from a nuclear treaty that if agreed to endangers the free world. Iran, a rogue state no better than North Korea, cannot become a nuclear weapons capable state.”

STATEMENT BY NEW YORK STATE CONSERVATIVE PARTY CHAIRMAN GERARD KASSAR ON TALK OF PLEA DEAL FOR 9/11 HIJACK PLANNERS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 12, 2022

Brooklyn, NY – “Negotiating away the death penalty with terrorists at Guantanamo Bay would be a travesty of justice against the more than 3,000 victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, their surviving family members, and every servicemember who has risked his or her life over the past 21 years to protect this nation from further attacks.

“Self-proclaimed 9/11 architect Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his terrorist confederates, Ramzi Binalshibh, Mustafa Ahmed al-Hawsawi, Walid bin Attash and Ammar al-Baluchi, should have been tried in military court years ago for their murderous attacks against U.S. citizens.

“Mohammed and his partners plotted for months to kill as many innocent Americans as possible on that bright September morning and would have killed hundreds or thousands more in Washington, D.C. had brave passengers not overtaken one of the hijacked aircraft over Pennsylvania. Any efforts to soften the penalties they pay for their actions are unacceptable. Time will never lessen the evil these men did.”

Statement from Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar on the shortsighted decision by the Farm Laborers Wage Board

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 7, 2022

Brooklyn, NY – “New York family farms and their employees will suffer a serious economic blow thanks to a shortsighted decision by the Democrat-controlled Farm Laborers Wage Board yesterday. Family-owned agricultural businesses in New York have been reeling for years from overregulation, oppressively high taxation — including the Death Tax, which forces surviving family members to sell land to pay Albany and Washington following the death of loved ones — and now this. These family farms work on incredibly tight margins, competing with agricultural competitors from across the hemisphere. This decision will put a lot of people out of work — in the false name of progress. New York strikes again.”

STATEMENT BY CONSERVATIVE PARTY CHAIRMAN GERARD KASSAR ON CONGESTION PRICING DEBACLE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: Bill O’Reilly, 212-396-9117
Bill@NovemberTeam.com
August 29, 2022

Brooklyn, NY – “The Proposed Congestion Pricing Tax is a slap in the face to outer borough and suburban commuters struggling to make ends meet. The tax has nothing to do with reducing congestion and everything to do with bailing out a profligate MTA that has never been able to manage money.

“We now know that Congestion Pricing will have an adverse environmental impact on New York residential communities, while doing virtually nothing to remediate traffic in Manhattan’s core business districts. This is simply an MTA cash grab disguised as an environmental measure.

“Congestion Pricing was a bad idea when it was passed in 2019, and it’s an even worse idea now. The situation has changed dramatically in the past three years, and it would be foolish not to recognize that. Covid and crime have dramatically altered commuting habits, and New York now finds itself struggling to get workers back into Manhattan offices which have historically provided billions in tax revenue to the City and State. Why on earth would we want to add a paywall to enter the exact area of the city we’re trying to revitalize?

“If government and MTA leaders want fewer cars on the road and more mass transit commuters, they should start by making subways and buses safe and clean. How’s that for a novel idea?”

STATE CONSERVATIVE PARTY CHAIRMAN GERARD KASSAR CONGRATULATES REPUBLICAN-CONSERVATIVE PRIMARY WINNERS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: Bill O’Reilly, 212-396-9117
Bill@NovemberTeam.com
August 24, 2022

Brooklyn, NY – “The New York State Conservative Party is proud to have backed six congressional primary winners in last night’s elections — Nick LaLota (NY-1); Andrew Garbarino (NY-2); Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11); Brandon Williams (NY-22); Nick Langworthy (NY-23), and Claudia Tenney (NY-24). The Conservative Party also congratulates Assemblyman Mike Lawler (NY-17), whom we endorsed, for his Republican and Conservative primary victories Tuesday night. And though he fell short in a razor-thin-margin race yesterday, we have every confidence that Conservative Party-backed candidate Marc Molinaro (NY-19) will prevail in November’s general election.

“These eight congressional candidates, along with other Conservative-backed candidates for Congress, State Senate, and State Assembly, represent the coming vanguard of common-sense change in America. They offer New York families relief from President Biden’s, Nancy Pelosi’s and Charles Schumer’s inflationary spending agenda, lower taxes, stronger crime fighting measures, and greater parental involvement in schools.

“The Conservative Party will work day and night for the next 10 weeks to elect each of these candidates — and all Conservative backed candidates — to public office. Progressivism has left New York less safe, more expensive, and deeply disillusioned. We can’t remember a time when change was more needed.”

STATEMENT FROM NEW YORK STATE CONSERVATIVE PARTY CHAIRMAN GERARD KASSAR

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 23, 2022

Brooklyn, NY – “Governor Kathy Hochul owes millions of New Yorkers an apology they’ll never get. Mrs. Hochul, like Governor Andrew Cuomo before her, genuinely believes that people who object to her extreme views on abortion, cashless bail, and the environment have no business living in New York State. Her statement was as arrogant as it was embarrassing.

“Mrs. Hochul’s fear of opposing opinions telegraphs just how concerned she is about Lee Zeldin and Marc Molinaro in November. It’s no wonder she wants to ship them out of state.”

STATEMENT FROM NEW YORK STATE CONSERVATIVE PARTY CHAIRMAN GERARD KASSAR ON BIDEN-SCHUMER-PELOSI TAX HIKE, IRS AGENT HIRING SPREE BILL

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Contact: Bill O’Reilly, 212-396-9117
Bill@NovemberTeam.com
August 12, 2022

Brooklyn, NY – “Americans are desperate for economic relief, and Democrats in the House, led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, are likely to stick it to us again today in a party-line vote that Republicans can’t stop.

“The grossly misnamed ‘Inflation Reduction Act’ is yet another Democrat tax increase — in the middle of an inflation crisis — coupled with the greatest expansion of the IRS in modern times. Hiring 87,000 aggressive new IRS agents tells us everything we need to know about Democrat priorities.

“This tax hike will do special damage to mid-size businesses, which employ millions of Americans. Once this legislation is forced through, an untold number of those employees will receive pink slips.

“Is this what Democrats call progress?”

Brooklyn, NY – “The FBI, with machine guns drawn, invaded the home of a former President of the United States. It better have a damn good reason.

“All Americans should be alarmed by this exorbitant use of force, and all Americans should be demanding answers from the Justice Department today.

“Yesterday’s raid also raises the important question of political double standards. How has Hunter Biden not been indicted yet? Only the Justice Department knows, and we await an explanation. This all reeks of politics.”

Chairman Gerard Kassar and the Officers & Members of the NYS Conservative Party Are Mourning the Loss of their Longtime State Chairman, Michael R. Long

For Immediate Release

Brooklyn, NY — The New York State Conservative Party is mourning the passing of its longtime State Chairman, Michael R. Long. Long’s Storied Career in Politics and the Conservative Movement spanned almost sixty years.

Mike, a proud Marine, went to a Madison Square Garden Rally for Barry Goldwater, and the rest is history. Realizing how effective one man can be, his extensive career of service began by volunteering for Goldwater’s campaign, thus began his lengthy career in his hometown of Brooklyn. His reputation as an honest broker expanded throughout New York State and nationally regarding countless issues and elections.

Long’s political career began in 1968 as a District Leader and quickly rose to Chairman of the Kings County Conservative Party in 1972. In 1974, Mike Long was elected by his colleagues as a State Vice-Chairman and in 1984 as the Executive Vice-Chairman. In 1988, Michael R. Long was elected to the position of State Chairman of the Party where he served until, he retired in February 2019, the longest serving State Chairman in the Party’s history.

Mike served as Chairman of Community School Board 19 in East New York; in 1981, Long became the first registered Conservative to serve on the NYC Council. Mike served as a board member of the American Conservative Union for 27 years and in 2010 the ACU foundation presented him with “The Charlton Heston Courage Under Fire Award.” Long was a member of the Board of Directors of the Cathedral Club of Brooklyn, he also served as Secretary on the Board of Trustees for Daytop Village, Inc. and was Chairman of Daytop International, as well as the past Chairman of the Board of Directors of Holy Angels Academy in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, to name just of few of the varied ways Mike Long served his community. Mike Long, was proud of his Irish Heritage and genuinely enjoyed being honored as Grand Marshal of the Bay Ridge St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Mike Long engaged in numerous campaigns through the years; among the more notable are the elections of former Senator James L. Buckley (running only on the Conservative Party line), Senator Al D’Amato, Ronald Reagan (In 1980 and again in 1984, Mike Long was proud to cast his vote for President Ronald Reagan in New York’s Electoral College) and under his leadership the Conservative Party provided the margin of victory for the historic election of Republican/Conservative Governor George Pataki and Attorney General Dennis Vacco.

Mike’s work in the Pro-Life movement is renowned; and received several awards for his dedication, including the Knights of Columbus Pro Patria Award, and in 2009, Mr. Long was honored as a Knight in the Order of St. Gregory the Great.

Numerous candidates, political leaders and those simply interested in the future of America, their state and/or local community benefited from his heartfelt, forthright advice.

“The loss of Mike Long is immeasurable. We have lost a good man, a close friend, mentor and outstanding political leader; a void for me and many has been created that cannot be filled,” said State Chairman Gerard Kassar. “The countless number of people who learned from Mike can today be found throughout the political world and will act as his legacy for many years to come.”

“Mike’s leadership is legendary; if you had differences on any subject, it was never combative, it was discussed. Mike had a natural ability to lead you to his understanding of the issue, which is why he was such an effective leader,” said Shaun Marie Levine, the Party’s Executive Director. “Diogenes, a complex persona known for his searching for an honest man, would have found his honest man had he met Michael R. Long. Throughout his life, Mike certainly lived up to the Marine’s motto, Semper Fi. To say Mike will be sorely missed is an understatement; his dedication to making lives better is a loss when needed most.”

The Long brothers, Mike and Thomas, were, for many years, the proprietors of Long’s Ice Cream Parlor in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn; and eventually they purchased Long’s Liquor store in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.

Mike and his beloved wife, Eileen, celebrated their 59th anniversary in May and are the proud parents of nine children, twenty-five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
