Three more down, four more to go…and 136 days until we know.

Current front runner for the democratic nomination for president, Bernie Sanders, has some explaining to do regarding the costs of his socialistic programs, but even if he did reveal projected costs, those who have not studied or lived through the demeaning ideals of socialism, would still support him because of the false promises that government largess from cradle to grave is possible…and America would continue to raise the standard of living in the world.  Mr. Sanders, stop selling snake oil; stop selling socialism to those who do not understand that government largess suppresses the liberty that made American the greatest nation in the world.  Charlie Kirk, appearing on Life, Liberty and Levin, warns against conservatives rooting for Sanders to be the nominee.

Since former VP Joe Biden won in South Carolina on Saturday, Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Tom Steyer and Sen. Amy Klobuchar have dropped out of the 2020 presidential race.  Senator Sanders you are not dreaming — it really is déjà vu — 2016 was real and so is this.  Doesn’t that tell you socialism is your dream, not America’s.  Mayor Pete is endorsing former VP Biden. Who will be the next to go?  Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Congresswoman Tulis Gabbard.  After Super Tuesday there may only be the 3 B’s running, Bernie (78), Biden (77) and Bloomberg (78).  Do you remember when Ronald Reagan ran in 1980 and the press was in an uproar because he was 69?  My how times have changed.

Democrats Fall Short in Latest Debate

2020 Democratic challengers left much to the imagination Tuesday night in an often hard to follow, contentious debate that once again put the party’s socialist agenda in the forefront.

As Bernie Sanders oversees the downfall of the Democratic party as we know it, the remainder of the field has had little luck in shifting momentum away from the Democratic Socialist frontrunner.  At a time where the party is desperately looking for a leader and an identity, stalwarts such as Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, and Amy Klobuchar have failed to deliver for the party which continues to spiral down a path of extinction, making way for the new Democratic Socialist Party led by Senator Sanders.

Senator Sanders has confessed that taxes will be raised drastically on not only the rich, but the middle class who drives the American economy, in order to pay for his healthcare, college tuition and climate plans. However, Sanders conveniently pivots when pressed on the fact that a massive deficit still exists that would cripple the economy as we know it.

Perhaps the most concerning issue at hand is the amount of support Sanders has across the country for his socialist agenda. Dismissing his candidacy in a general election thinking socialism would never be a reality in America, would be a mistake for Conservatives all over the country. Sanders base is energized, organized, loyal and growing. We must take this threat on our democracy serious and prepare to support the President and down ballot Conservative/Republican candidates with enthusiasm.

Panasonic Ends Partnership with Tesla

Panasonic confirmed the end of their solar partnership with Tesla on Wednesday in a move that will deliver a blow to the Buffalo economy.

Panasonic will end all operations in New York and have their pullout complete by September effectively ending the employment of just over 400 New Yorker’s.  The state has informed the Panasonic employees in RiverBend, Buffalo that they will be offering their assistance in acquiring new jobs, but could make no assurances or promises. While the state attempts to put on a good face, it is evident Governor Cuomo’s administration continues to deal with a level of unprecedented corruption within this economic development project.

The facts are this, Tesla promised more jobs than they delivered in Buffalo. Gone are the promises of over 1,400 manufacturing jobs, and more than 2,000 additional jobs all over New York State to provide solar energy.

Transparency has never been the Governors forte, but this latest debacle stinks. It stinks for the State and it stinks for hundreds of people losing good paying jobs and the thousands of others who never got an opportunity due to failures on the part of Tesla and the Governor.

 Governor Cuomo’s Approval Rating Falling

A new Siena Research poll has Governor Cuomo falling out of favor in New York State with a 36% positive job performance review and a 63% negative rating, down from a 41% favorability a month ago.

The decline comes on the heels of abysmal statewide support for bail reform laws passed last year as a part of the state budget. In April of 2019, New Yorker’s thought the reforms would be a step in the right direction by 17 points, but one month after the implementation, voters believed the changes to be bad for New York by a 12-point margin. Now, those numbers have torpedoed even further as voters believe the law is bad by a margin of 26 points.

Senate and Assembly Republicans have called for the immediate repeal of the law, but state Democrats continue to refuse revisiting the reforms.

With the November elections on the horizon and public opinion souring, Democrats are under immense pressure to work with Republicans regarding the law.

Bail reform laws were passed as a part of the state budget and bail reform was never discussed on either the Senate or Assembly floor. I, along with many Conservative/Republican legislators have called on the state to no longer pass legislation within the state budget. Laws should be discussed and argued on the floor, not tucked away within a budget. With the Governors numbers falling at a rapid pace, I believe he would be wise to remember the people who elected him, not act as a king.

Government must set the right example — lately it hasn’t.

Spectrum news rightfully asks this question:  State Revoked This Limo Company’s Operating Authority. So Why Are They Still Picking Up Passengers?  I would certainly not let my family hire a company that doesn’t meet the standards set for safety.  Protecting citizens and residents, is the primary duty of government agencies, but lately, government agencies are ignoring and arbitrarily  changing the rules and laws that have served this country well throughout the years.  Government officials created sanctuary cities, blatantly ignoring federal laws; have granted licenses to illegal immigrants, again changing laws set in place to protect all residents; eliminated cash bail to serve those who demand social justice and also tucked into the criminal justice reform an almost impossible deadline to provide discovery to defendants and their attorneys.  Most every day, newspapers report how perpetrators continue their crime sprees – and no longer face consequences – and Spectrum questions why a company in upstate New York ignores the fact that their operating authority has been revoked.  Government has sanctioned their actions by setting the example of choosing which laws and rules government choses to follow.

Why an April 1 deadline Governor? Are you stating that if no agreement is made by April 1, there will be no changes in this law that leaves the safety of New York’s residents in danger?  As we have noted many times, government’s primary responsibility is to keep all people safe.  The NY Post is reporting that Cuomo could make bail reform changes in state budget.   So, possible changes buried in the budget, with little or no discussion with law enforcement.  Does anyone really think this is a good idea – besides the Governor and his leftwing allies?

Why is it that criminals are getting every benefit of the doubt while victims are being victimized again by the current changes promoted by social justice warriors?  Without doubt, there have been innocent people convicted and were forced to spend years in prison, but does that mean we now have to do all that is possible to prevent conviction?  We have made strides to be certain that the person on trial and facing conviction is the true perpetrator and no doubt there is more that can be done, but, lately it seems that the efforts being made to prevent making mistakes are not considering the safety of the community.    Pro-crime lobby looking to take yet another policing tool away from NYPD.

Mike Bloomberg flip-flops again.

Chairman Kassar’s Weekly Wrap-up: Bloombergs Blunders, Petitions, and “Green Light” Laws.

Bloomberg Bullied

Mike Bloomberg participated in his first democratic debate Wednesday night and frankly, it could not have gone worse for the former Mayor of New York City.

It should come as no surprise that Bloomberg was tha target of multiple attacks From Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders. What should come as a surprise, is how woefully prepared he was to counter the onslaught.

President Trump would “chew him up and spit him out,” said Sanders days before the debate. It’s not often, or really ever, that I find myself agreeing with Bernie Sanders, but in this case, he is correct.

One would have to believe with $460 million in campaign expenditures, some of the money would have been spent on debate prep, but Bloomberg’s blunder only caused more chaos for the democratic party as they continue to stare down the barrel of a Bernie Sanders nomination.

With 2/3 of American’s happy with the economy and with overall satisfaction with the state of the nation at a 15 year high, it is hard to believe a self-proclaimed democratic socialist, who’s goal is to undo an economic system that a majority of Americans believe is working, would be elected President of the United States.

With their drastic shift to the far left, Democrats have become the greatest spokesperson for President Trump and his success. In the midst of the greatest economy this country has ever seen, the Democrats have managed to field a team dead set on reversing the policies that have led us to achieving record low unemployment, record low poverty rate, record high median income, and rising wages after years of stagnation.

Americans will re-elect President Trump in 2020. The only question is how big a landslide will it be?

“Green Light” Law Continues to Cause Safety Concerns

The problematic “Green Light” law continues to put New Yorker’s at risk as it blocks federal law enforcement agencies from accessing data critical to keeping citizens safe.

Recently, the New York State Sheriffs’ Association issued a letter to Governor Cuomo, as well as the senate and assembly majorities, to highlight the serious consequences officers face as they work to combat dangerous criminals operating within New York State lines.

“This was a law intentionally designed to obstruct security officials in their efforts to combat drug trafficking, human trafficking, and transnational gang activities,” assembly minority leader Will Barclay said.

Federal law enforcement agencies having access to DMV data is critical. In 2019 alone, ICE arrested 149 child predators, seized 6,487 pounds of illegal drugs, arrested 230 known gang members, and most notably, rescued a staggering 105 victims of human trafficking.

To block law enforcement agencies from continuing their good work and saving countless more lives, is unconscionable and irresponsible. New York remains less safe as long as these “Green Light” laws remain in effect.

I stand with Leader Barclay in calling for the immediate repeal so that our law enforcement agencies can get back to their very important job of saving lives.

Chairman Kassar’s Weekly Wrap-up, Attacks on the NYPD, Global Entry, Trump Endorsements

NYPD Comes Under Attack

It was a startling week to say the least for the NYPD as the 41 Precinct endured through two assassination attempts  in a 12 hour span. By the grace of God, the two officers shot were treated for none life-threatening wounds and have both since been released from the hospital.

The attacks came on the heels of an anti-police rally that saw protestors vandalize MTA stations in defiance of subway fairs and increased NYPD presence on trains.

NYPD Sergeants Benevolent Association President, Ed Mullins visited the White House Wednesday days after declaring “war” on New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio who has his own history of anti-police rhetoric.

“The Trump administration is very aware of the plight of police officers in NYC and is closely monitoring the situation. @realDonaldTrump has our backs” said a tweet sent from the SBA account.

Criminal mischief and activity has risen in 2020 throughout NYC. Sweeping bail and discovery reforms that went into effect January 1, have had police, in some instances, arresting and re-arresting offenders within days of their release.

Albany Democrats have been reluctant to repeal the reforms despite recommendations from law enforcement professionals and judges. In January, a resolution was brought to the floor by Senate Republicans. The resolution failed on a party line vote.

Trump, Cuomo Meet to Discuss Global Entry for New Yorkers

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo met with President Trump Thursday to discuss the D.H.S.’s suspension of the Global Entry program for New Yorker’s.  Last week, D.H.S. Secretary Chad Wolfe announced New Yorker’s would no longer be allowed to enroll in the Trusted Travelers program due to New York State withholding access to DMV information from the Federal law enforcement agencies.

Governor Cuomo handed the Trump administration a win when he announced the state would indeed offer access, but on a limited basis. President Trump and the D.H.S. continue to request more access, which has been denied as of this writing.

“The president said that this is an issue he wants to work on and that he would follow up with the governor next week,” said communications director Dani Lever.

President Trump and Governor Cuomo have agreed to continuing conversation regarding the Global Entry ban, but as of Friday afternoon, the ban remains in effect.

Restricting security agencies the access needed to protect New Yorker’s, and our neighbors, is troubling. New York experienced the deadliest terror attack this country has ever seen. Impeding those tasked with keeping us safe is unconscionable and irresponsible. The job of our elected officials, is to first and foremost, keep us safe and protected from any danger both foreign and domestic.

I look forward to Governor Cuomo granting the access necessary to ensure we never re-live another September 11, 2001 or experience anything like it.

President Trump Endorses Malliotakis, Tenney

On Wednesday President Trump officially endorsed two New York Congressional challengers.

Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis, running in New York’s 11th Congressional district, continues to raise money and campaign at a rate that has captured the attention of the White House and President Donald Trump.

“I know her well, we need her to defeat Max Rose, who voted for Impeachment!” President Trump tweeted. Adding “she loves our Military & Vets. Nicole has my Complete & Total Endorsement!”

A top 10 race in the Country, Malliotakis looks to recapture the historically Republican district this November.

In New York’s 22nd Congressional district, challenger Claudia Tenney, who represented the district from 2017-2019,  earned the support of President Trump.

‘Claudia Tenney is a fantastic candidate running in New York, where she was a great member of Congress,” the President tweeted. “Claudia has my complete and total endorsement!” added the President.

Governor Cuomo, this is just wrong.  An issue as volatile is making marijuana a legal, recreational drug, should not be included in a budget bill.  It should stand alone, and be openly debated on the floor of the legislature, with all the facts exposed.  Stop looking at the legalization of marijuana as a financial resource; the costs associated with legalization of marijuana will drive New York’s debt deeper in the budget hole.

As noted in the NY Post editorial, No, Speaker Heastie, massive flaws in no-bail law are not ‘fake news’, the criminal justice reforms passed in last years’ budget is proving to be the biggest misguided mistake made in any legislature in recent times.

Statement from Conservative Party Chairman Gerard Kassar on Shooting of NYPD Officers

February 9, 2020

“Elected leaders who fire up crowds with anti-police rhetoric in the name of ‘progressivism’ may as well have armed accused cop shooter Robert Williams. They have created a dangerous hair-trigger environment for anti-police crackpots, and shouldn’t act surprised when shootings like these occur. We pray for the officers wounded this weekend — and for serious reflection from those stirring the rage. There’s nothing progressive about blind hatred.”

Chairman Kassar’s wrap-up discusses President Trump’s acquittal, how DHS is protecting our Homeland and a very special belated birthday wish.

President Trump Acquitted.

If democrats are going to beat President Trump in 2020, it’s going to be at the polls. No political stunts or sham impeachments; it will be up to the American people to decide.

The United States Senate’s vote to acquit the President ended yet another attempt to overturn the 2016 election at the cost of the taxpayers. Millions of dollars were wasted on a senseless show trial to divide the nation even further for political gain. Now, Democrats have come up empty – again.

We are experiencing an economic boom few could have predicted. With today’s announcement of  225,000 jobs added in January, increased participation in the labor force and average hourly earnings exceeding expectations, it is time Washington D.C. collectively continue to build on the impressive accomplishments achieved by President Trump and his administration.

It is imperative Democrats in Washington D.C. show a willingness to work with Republicans and get back to work to help the President move his America First agenda forward.

DHS Steps In, Places Ban on New Yorker’s From Enrolling in Global Entry

Acting Secretary of Homeland Security, Chad Wolfe, put a halt on New Yorker’s ability to apply for Global Entry due to New York’s Green Light Law which allows illegal citizens to obtain drivers licenses.

“DHS would prefer to continue our longstanding cooperative relationship with New York on a variety of these critical homeland security initiatives,” he wrote, “this act and the corresponding lack of security cooperation from the New York DMV requires DHS’s effort to protect the homeland are not compromised.”

The Green Light Law prevent Government agencies such as Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection from doing their jobs by gaining access to the state’s DMV databases.

Conservative/Republican State Legislators warned New York Democrats and Governor Cuomo in early 2019 that their decision to defy security agencies by withholding information from the Federal Government would come with implications and consequences.

Still, Governor Cuomo and his administration saw it best to undermine national security and continue to put illegal citizens ahead of safety, security, and law-abiding citizens who wish to have access to Global Entry.
