Conservatives,
this is your book this is your story!
Fighting the Good Fight is the
story of how two men of vision, J. Daniel Mahoney and Kieran ODoherty had the guts
and fortitude to counter the liberal Rockefeller-Javits domination of New Yorks
politics by founding the Conservative Party.
Fighting the Good Fight is the
history of thousands of principled people like you, who on a shoestring budget, often
under great political and economic pressure to abandon their cause, changed the political
landscape of New York State.
Fighting the Good Fight tells how,
for forty years, Conservatives have been the guardian of working-class New Yorkers; men
and women who subscribe to the believe that to be good citizens it is essential to love
family, neighborhood, country and God, and just as important, to respect the ethic of hard
work. It is the story of how the Conservative Party has for four decades, lived up to its
charter to serve political ideals first.
Fight the Good Fight will
contribute to establishing the Conservative Partys rightful place in the history of
American conservatism.

Fighting the Good Fight confirms
Ronald Reagans observation that "The Conservative Party has established itself
as a preeminent force in New York politics and an important part of our political
history."
Heres what the critics are saying about Fighting
the Good Fight:
"George Marlin has written an important book on an important
anniversary of a vital political institution. He is taking notes for a book on the
Conservative Partys 50th."
--William F. Buckley Jr.
"George Marlin has filled a gaping hole on the bookshelf of
American political history with his history of New Yorks Conservative Party from its
founding in 1962 to 2002. The Conservative Party, once the target of ridicule, has done
much to change the Republican party in New York and in the nation. George Marlin knows New
York in and out not just Manhattan, but the outer boroughs and upstate as well
and Fighting the Good Fight is not only good history, its a great
read."
Michael Barone, U.S. News & World Report, author of The
New Americans; How the Melting Pot Can Work Again, and co-author, The Almanac of
American Politics.
"George J. Marlin is not only a superb recorder of the history
of The New York Conservative Party, but someone who helped shape that history. From the
beginning, the Conservative Party has had a unique blend of high principle, street corner
common sense, and the love of a good, old-fashioned political scrap against great odds,
and Mr. Marlin captures this spirit throughout. Buy two copies of Fighting the Good
Fight and send one to a liberal of your choice we conservatives believe in late
conversions and this book can do the job!"
William E. Gavin, a speechwriter for President Nixon, is the author of The
Street Corner Conservative.
When you finish Fighting the Good Fight, you wont know
everything Marlin knows about New York politics that would be impossible but
you will know more than you did.
