A Letter to the President
The following letter was sent to President Bush today regarding the
aftermath of Katrina:
September 2, 2005
Honorable George W. Bush
President of the United States
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, D. C. 20500
Dear President Bush:
Recent days have been very difficult for those along the Gulf Coast of our
great United States and many have been very harsh in criticizing the
efforts put forth by the federal government.
I believe they are mistaken.
No one could truly foresee the devastation of Katrina, nor could anyone
anticipate the outright lawlessness of some of the people involved.
I understand that it takes a monumental effort to coordinate such a
massive undertaking and despite what critics are saying, I know that you
have responded responsibly.
These are troubling times and you have had to deal with far too many
natural and man made disasters in your years as President. A lesser man
would have crumpled under the weight placed on his shoulders.
I am proud to call you my President
Sincerely,
Michael R. Long
State Chairman
