CONSERVATIVES JOIN PETITION DRIVE
Supporting Assemblyman John Faso's efforts to reduce gasoline tax
Ft. Hamilton Station, New York -- Michael R. Long, State Chairman of the
Conservative Party, announced today, that the Conservative Party has launched a grassroots
effort to assist Assembly Republican Leader John Faso in passing Assembly Bill 7831 which
seeks to protect motorist from skyrocketing gas prices. The bill would eliminate the
4 percent state sales tax on gasoline and diesel fuel from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Chairman Long stated that at a meeting of the State Executive Committee held on Saturday,
May 5, 2001 in Party Headquarters the following resolution was passed:
"The Executive Committee of the New York State Conservative Party hereby endorses
John Faso's Assembly Bill 7831 which would suspend the state's 4 percent sales tax on
gasoline to alleviate the heavy cost on families being caused by the ever increasing cost
of gasoline.
We applaud Assemblyman Faso for taking this action and we call on all our state elected
officials to pass this legislation so it can be in place for the upcoming Summer
Season."
Petitions are being distributed to all Conservative County Chairmen throughout the State
and are available on the Conservative Party website: www.cpnys.org
for New Yorkers to download and have their friends sign to return to
Assemblyman Faso or the Conservative Party.
