Conservatives Call for Full Disclosure in Campaign Reform

Ft. Hamilton Station, NY – Chairman Michael R. Long stated today that Campaign Reform should be limited to "full disclosure" as the best way to allow the free market to be the driving force in political campaigns. . To limit donations to campaigns only empowers wealthy individuals and incumbents while stifling bright new individuals looking to become  involved in public service.

If a bright new individual is not chosen by the powers that be in a political organization, he would be furthered hampered by recent court decisions that allow political parties to spend party monies on primary elections.

Further, if housekeeping contributions are limited, efforts by political organizations to engage in voter registration and get out the vote efforts will be severely curtailed.

Politics, in America and in New York, has always been about supporting the individual you want in office, with money and time. Reform should not mean that we are limited as to the amount of money we want to give to an individual or party.

True campaign reform is full and open disclosure, letting everyone know who is giving how much to whom, not enabling only the wealthy and incumbents.
