Conservatives to Converge on Capital

40th Annual Conference Begins 02/11/07

Ft. Hamilton Station, NY – Mike Long, State Chairman of the New York State Conservative Party, announced details of the 40th Annual Conservative Party Political Action Conference that will be held at the Holiday Inn Turf on Wolf Road, Albany, New York.

"CPPAC 2007 is the 40th consecutive year that grassroots activists have gathered in Albany, to hear from speakers and leaders in the national conservative movement as well as those who are actively involved with 'hot-button' state issues," said Long.

Some of the featured speakers at our conference are: Robert Ward (Public Policy Council) addressing the issue of property taxes; E. J. McMahon (Manhattan Institute) on the state budget; John Gizzi (Human Events) on the view from Washington and Thomas W. Carroll (Charter Schools) on the need for more Charter Schools and many other prominent speakers addressing the participants on their areas of expertise. (Contact 718-921-2158 or 518-356-7882 for the complete agenda or via return e-mail.)

Pat Toomey, President of Club for Growth, and former Congressman from Pennsylvania will be the featured speaker at the Monday Luncheon. Congressman Toomey served in Congress for three terms and distinguished himself as one of the leading advocates for limited government and personal freedom, both core beliefs of the Conservative Party. Prior to his serving in Congress, he co-founded, owned and operated four very successful restaurants after first beginning his career in investment banking. Mr. Toomey is a Harvard graduate and brings his conservative perspective to all his endeavors.

Long noted that this year’s conference brings together many respected speakers on issues that every New York citizen should be aware of and have the knowledge to support or oppose when presented to the Legislature for approval. “Our mission is to keep the public informed of the consequences of their choices and attending the conference is a great way to learn,” Long stated.

The two-day conference concludes on Monday evening with a reception and dinner with Legislators from around the state expected to attend.
