|
Whereas: |
Most Americans
have ancestors from Countries outside of our boarders; |
| |
|
|
Whereas: |
We recognize
that there is a common American culture bonded by traditions including
our National Anthem in the English language; |
| |
|
|
Whereas: |
Francis Scott
Key composed the Star Spangled Banner in tribute to the valiant
defense of Fort McHenry by American forces during the British attack
of September 13, 1814; |
| |
|
|
Whereas: |
The United
States Congress adopted the Star Spangled Banner as the National
Anthem of the
United States
in 1931; |
| |
|
|
Be it resolved: |
That the New
York State Conservative Party supports President Bush’s statement “I
think people who want to be a citizen of this country ought to learn
English and they ought to learn to sing the national anthem in
English” |
| |
|
|
Let
it be known: |
That the New
York State Conservative Party calls on Congress to pass legislation
supporting English as the official language of the
United States of America. |
