William F. Buckley, Jr. Tribute Web-site Launched
Ft. Hamilton Station, NY
– The New York State Conservative Party has developed a
web-community that will keep alive the brilliance and the wisdom of one of
its founders, William F. Buckley Jr.
In launching the web site, Conservative Party Chairman, Michael R. Long
said, "At a time when the conservative movement is suffering from a lack
of inspired leadership the life and the wisdom of William F. Buckley, Jr.
offers valuable lessons to our movement and our nation."
"As our mayoral candidate in 1965, Bill Buckley's conservatism injected
enthusiasm into a conservative movement that had been soundly defeated at
the polls just a year earlier. Even the New York Times concluded that his
candidacy helped form the modern conservative movement.
"Buckley's conservative alternatives to the dominant liberalism of the day
captured the imagination of New Yorkers and Americans everywhere.
"Buckley, by his personal conduct, and his brilliant insights demonstrated
that conservatives have answers to the problems caused by big government
liberals.
"Buckley did not tailor his ideas to the audience; he confidently
challenged those who disagreed with him.
"This is an important lesson we must learn again, and on May 29 we will
host a tribute dinner to honor Bill Buckley and his contributions to the
conservative movement. Dinner attendees will include many of Buckley's
associates, his National Review team, and conservative activists from
around the nation
"As we approach the dinner, we are launching
www.buckleytribute.com, to
make it easier for people to learn about Bill Buckley and for people
around the nation and the world to benefit from this ongoing tribute and
educational tool.
"During the course of his lifetime, up until the moment of his recent
passing, Bill Buckley provided us with the tools to triumph over the
statist philosophy of Barak Obama and Hillary Clinton. This dinner and
web-site will help perpetuate Buckley's insights and knowledge."
People interested in attending the dinner or sending a message that will
be read by conservative leadership can visit our web site at
