Governor Spitzer Is Still Wrong on the Security Issue

Ft. Hamilton Station, NY – "Governor Spitzer, while trying to correct his misguided idea of granting illegal aliens a New York State driver's license, still doesn't get it," said Conservative Party Chairman Mike Long today.

"It is obvious that Governor Spitzer finds it difficult to admit that his proposal to grant illegal aliens a driver's license is a bad idea since he is still insisting that the agreement reached with Homeland Security today 'will usher in the most secure licensing system in the nation,'" Long said.

"He did not listen when Homeland Security Secretary Chertoff stated that he does not endorse giving licenses to those who are not here legally," Long continued.

"Governor Spitzer is still wrong on the security issue and on the voter fraud that will most certainly occur when illegal aliens are granted a license. The fact still remains, that Governor Spitzer, can not implement an executive order this is in direct conflict with state motor vehicle law," Long continued.

"It is our belief that the Courts will remind Governor Spitzer that executive orders do not supersede state law," concluded Long.
