Description of Senate Bills used in Ratings

# 1.  S. 3178 Robach – A.   6222 Abbate   This bill seeks to provide for a continuing penalty on an employer that fails to bargain in good faith and for mitigation of penalties against employees who violate no-strike provisions while an employer is not bargaining in good faith.  The Conservative Party, along with many editorial boards across the state,  opposes this bill on the belief that any public union subject to the Taylor Law can state that the employer is not “bargaining in good faith” to allow PERB to expedite decisions.  It would also give PERB  the authority to force employers to increase salaries.

#5.  S. 6441 Spano – A. 9691 John   This bill requires certain employers to develop and implement programs to prevent workplace violence.  The Conservative Party abhors violence in the workplace, home or on our streets, however, no program developed by employers will ever be able to fully prevent violence and it will ultimately place a further burden on employers and increase the cost of doing business while not being able to achieve its goal.

#6.  S. 6451 – A. 9551 Budget Bill    The Conservative Party continues to oppose the Legislative and Judiciary Budget and all of the member items contained within it.
