      The time is NOW to Support Tort Reform!

        We have joined with the New Yorkers for Civil Justice Reform in supporting Tort Reform. We urge you to contact your legislator and tell them the time is NOW for Tort Reform and ask them to co-sponsor and vote for Tort Reform.
        Tort Reform does not mean you would lose the right to sue if someone causes your harm.
        Contractors should not face liability insurance rates that triple and quadrule for injuries they didn't cause and could not prevent. Doctors should not be forced to leave the state over malpractice insurance. People who over-eat should not be allowed to sue restaurants. Cities should not be sued every time someone falls on municipal land.
        Friviolous lawsuits take hard-earned money out of the pockets of every New Yorker!
        Everything costs more in New York, including Government, because of litigation.
      Reforms that we support include: A cap on non-economic damages, eliminating "joint-and-several" liability, putting city lawsuits in the Court of Claims, and an ordinary negligence standard for contractors and leasing companies.
