As a supporter of the Conservative Party effort, I want you to know how outraged I am regarding the recent attacks on the Boy Scouts of America.

I denounce the efforts of Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-CA) which seeks to revoke the Boy Scout of America Charter because it will not allow avowed homosexuals as leaders.

Boy Scouting is an honorable tradition in our State and Country and this administration and a few members of Congress, do not have the right to bar the use of public areas because it seeks to promote an agenda that is opposite of what Scouting stands for.

Our Constitution guarantees freedom of association, so please stop trying to usurp this right. Many organizations that I would not join, are not confronted with this kind of government interference, yet, an honorable organization dedicated to teaching boys and young men the values of being good citizens has become a target of the militant gay rights movement.

Large corporations have caved to this blatant show of force. Levi-Strauss is withdrawing funding from Boy Scouts of America, as well as Chase Manhattan, Merrill Lynch, Wells Fargo and Knight Ridder. Perhaps, they have they forgotten that the same Constitution that guarantees freedom of association, makes it possible for them to sell their products.

America is a very diverse Nation and New York stands in the shadows of the greatest symbol of freedom - Lady Liberty. We as a Nation and State have achieved a prominence envied by most of the free world. The achievements of our Nation and State have been possible because of the diversity embraced by those who believe in our freedoms. Freedoms you seem ready to relinquish.

I will not stand quietly by as a great American organization is slowly destroyed.
