As a taxpayer and New York voter, I am outraged that assaulting an unborn child is not a crime in New York. Under New York law, endangered species and even dogs and cats enjoy more legal protection than unborn children.

That’s why I strongly support your legislation, the Unborn Victims of Violence Act — a sensible proposal that holds individuals who kill or injure an unborn child criminally responsible for their barbaric action. We must close the loophole that allows killers of unborn children to get away with murder. Twenty-four states have already passed legislation to provide legal protection to the unborn. New York must follow those states’ responsible, compassionate example.

The New York State Conservative Party has informed me that radical lobbyists are dishonestly attacking this vital piece of legislation. Please stand firm in the face of their unfair attacks. And please tell your colleagues that grassroots citizens like me support your brave effort on behalf of the unborn.
